Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, November 20, 2021, for the interment of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chad Brackman who was killed on November 10th.

Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, November 18, 2021, to honor retired Mesa Fire and Medical Department Captain Trevor Madrid. On Sunday, November 14, Captain Madrid passed away in the line of duty after a battle with occupational-related cancer.

 

“Arizona is deeply saddened by the loss of Captain Trevor Madrid,” said Governor Ducey. “He put his life on the line day in and day out to protect Arizonans, and it’s devastating that his service ultimately led to his passing. We must do more to protect our first responders from life-threatening illnesses. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Captain Madrid during this challenging time.”

Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Saturday, November 13, 2021, to honor Tucson sector U.S. Border Patrol Agent Anibal "Tony" A. Perez, who died on November 5 in the line of duty. 

“Arizona mourns the loss of Border Patrol Agent Tony Perez,” said Governor Ducey. “He put his life on the line to keep our border safe and protect fellow Arizonans. His bravery and selflessness made our communities and entire state stronger — and we are grateful for his service. My prayers are with Agent Perez’s loved ones, colleagues and the whole southern Arizona law enforcement community. In honor of his life and service, I’ve ordered flags be lowered to half-staff tomorrow.”

Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday, November 12, 2021, to honor Maricopa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chad Brackman who died this morning when he was struck by a vehicle.

“Arizona is saddened by this terrible tragedy,” said Governor Ducey. “Lieutenant Chad Brackman served his communities and our state honorably, and he had a deep devotion to public safety throughout his 22 years of service. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, along with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the entire law enforcement community. In honor of Lieutenant Brackman’s life and service, I have ordered all flags to be lowered to half-staff.”

Lieutenant Brackman, a 22-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, was struck by a vehicle while conducting traffic control in Scottsdale. He was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He is survived by his wife and children.

In coordination with the Presidential proclamation, Governor Doug Ducey has ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff immediately until sunset on October 22, 2021 to honor General Colin Powell.Governor Ducey stated "Colin Powell's passing is a great loss for our nation. He had a steadfast commitment to America and our national security, as a retired four-star general with 35 years of military service, White House National Security Advisor and Secretary of State. My prayers are with Powell’s wife, Alma, and his family."
