Governor Katie Hobbs ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff on September 11, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 innocent men and women who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.Governor Katie Hobbs issued the following statement: “Today, we lower flags in honor of the 2,977 who lost their lives on 9/11. We can never forget what was taken from them, their families, and our nation. On this day of reflection, let us remind ourselves that while others try to divide us, we are stronger united.”Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.

Governor Katie Hobbs has ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, August 24, 2023 in honor of IRS Special Agent Patrick Bauer, who died after being shot during a training incident at a firing range last Thursday.   

“The loss of Special Agent Patrick Bauer is felt across the multiple agencies he dedicated his life and career to,” said Governor Katie Hobbs. “As a former Arizona National Guardsman, he served our state with honor and dignity, characteristics he continued to embody as a federal IRS agent. I want to extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends and community. His service will forever be remembered.”

Governor Katie Hobbs ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, June 30, 2023, in honor of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost their lives protecting fellow Arizonans from the Yarnell Hill Fire in 2013. The Governor released the following statement:
 
“Ten years ago, our lives forever changed when 19 men selflessly answered the call to protect the people of Yarnell and Peeples Valley. With each year that passes, our admiration for the Granite Mountain Hotshots endures and their memory will forever live on.”

Governor Katie Hobbs has ordered flags at all state buildings lowered to half-staff from sunrise until noon on Monday, May 29 in honor of all service members who have died for our country. The flag should then be raised to full staff at noon to honor those veterans who are still living.

PHOENIX —  In coordination with the Presidential Proclamation, Governor Katie Hobbs ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Monday, May 15, in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

“Arizona's Peace Officers selflessly put their lives on the line everyday to keep us safe and their dedication will never be taken for granted. Let us honor those brave individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the families who have suffered a tremendous loss,” said Governor Hobbs.
