Flag Status
Flags are at half-staff today.
Governor Katie Hobbs has ordered U.S. and Arizona flags to fly at half-staff to honor the life and legacy of Pope Francis. This order is in conjunction with President Donald Trump’s proclamation for flags to be lowered today through the day of interment.
Flags should immediately be lowered to half-staff and remain so through sunset on the day of interment, which is yet to be set.
Governor Hobbs made the following statement:
“I join Catholics across Arizona, and the world, in mourning the death of Pope Francis. He led the Church with humility and dignity, and was a voice for those who too often have none. We can all learn from his message of compassion and empathy for the least among us.”
Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.
Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in honor of CPO Pike. Governor Brewer previously ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday, March 15th in honor of CPO Pike who died March 13, 2013, in Landstuhl, Germany as a result of combat-related injuries. CPO Pike incurred the fatal injuries on March 10th while conducting stability operations in Maiwand District, Afghanistan. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.

Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in honor of Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle, a member of Navy SEAL Team 6, who was killed Thursday during a parachute training exercise in southern Arizona when he and another SEAL collided in midair. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.

In coordination with the President’s Proclamation, Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from April 16 through sunset Saturday, April 20, 2013, in honor of the victims of the tragedy in Boston, Massachusetts. Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 17, 2013, in honor of Department of Public Safety (DPS) Officer Tim Huffman. Governor Brewer previously ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in honor of Officer Huffman. Officer Huffman, a 14-year veteran of the DPS Yuma Office, was killed Monday, May 6, 2013 while investigating an accident on Interstate 8 near the Yuma foothills. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.
