Flags are at full staff.
In coordination with the Presidential proclamation, Governor Ducey has called for the flags at all state buildings to be flown at half-staff immediately to honor Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who passed away at the age of 87. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The Governor released the following statement:
“Arizona joins the nation in mourning the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Justice Ginsburg led a trailblazing career as a champion for women and equal rights. During her 27 years on the Supreme Court, her immense intellect, tireless work ethic, and incredible talent as a jurist never waned, nor did her passion for justice. She has inspired generations of young girls and boys and gave us one of the most endearing examples of how to befriend those from across the aisle. Part of Justice Ginsburg’s enduring legacy is her friendship with Justice Scalia — a reminder of the importance of civility and decency. Now is the time for our country to honor her and her historic life as she so rightly deserves. My deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones.”

Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff today, Friday, September 11th, from sunrise to sunset in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The Governor released the following statement:
“Nineteen years ago, nearly 3,000 people were killed in the worst terrorist attack on American soil.
“The events of September 11 left our nation shocked and devastated — but never broken.
“As American hearts gripped the full scope of the devastation, alarm turned to action; distress to determination. Determination to lift up our country and secure justice on behalf of the victims.
“On this solemn anniversary and every day, Arizona is grateful to all the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to serve others: our law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, medical professionals and our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen.
“As we pray for the victims of 9/11 and their families, let us resolve once again, personally, in our hearts, as a state and as a nation — that we will never forget.”

Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, August 28, 2020, to honor Tohono O'odham Police Officer Bryan Brown, who died today after responding to reports of a public disturbance by an armed and erratic driver in Why, Arizona.
“Arizona is saddened by the loss of Tohono O'odham Police Officer Bryan Brown,” said Governor Ducey. “He was committed to serving others and put his life on the line answering the call of duty. For that, Arizona will be forever grateful. My sincerest condolences go out to Officer Brown’s loved ones as well as the Tohono O'odham Police Department. To honor Officer Brown, I’ve ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff tomorrow.”
