Flags are at half-staff today.
Governor Katie Hobbs has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Dec. 21, the day of Town of Marana Mayor Ed Honea’s interment. Part of a five-generation Marana family, the longtime public servant passed away on Nov. 22, 2024.
Governor Hobbs issued the following statement:
“I offer my sincere condolences on the passing of Mayor Ed Honea, a devoted leader who dedicated nearly 40 years to Marana. His unwavering service and deep love for the community will leave a lasting legacy for generations. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time.”

Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset Monday, March 10, 2014, in honor of Phoenix Police Detective John Hobbs. Governor Brewer previously ordered the flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in honor of Phoenix Police Detective John Hobbs who was killed in a shooting late Monday afternoon in Phoenix. Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset Saturday, March 22, 2014, in honor of Hellsgate Fire Department Lieutenant Bobby Mollere. Lieutenant Mollere, 61, was a Reserve Firefighter for the Hellsgate Fire Department and was also a part-time mechanic for the agency. He died from cardiac arrest on Saturday, March 8, 2014, after collapsing during the performance of a Wildland Pack Test earlier that morning. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.

Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset Thursday, March 27, 2014, in honor of Tucson Fire Department Arson Investigator Thomas Robert Quesnel. Investigator Quesnel died on March 14, 2014, from a fatal illness contracted in the line of duty. He served in the Tucson Fire Department for 25 years. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.
