Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset Friday, May 30, 2014, in honor of Salt River Police Officer Jair Cabrera. Governor Brewer previously ordered the flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Monday, May 26, 2014 in honor of Officer Cabrera, who was killed during a traffic stop on May 24, 2014. Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to participate in this tribute.

Governor Brewer previously ordered the flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, May 29, 2014 in honor of Agent Giannini, of the Willcox Station, who was killed Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in an on-duty single vehicle accident near Benson. Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to participate in this tribute.

In commemoration of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend (October 10 – 12, 2014) and Fire Prevention Week (October 5 – 11, 2014), and in accordance with Public Law 107-51, Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff until sunset Saturday, November 8, 2014, in honor of Chandler Police Officer David Payne. Governor Brewer previously ordered the flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, October 31, 2014 in honor of Officer Payne. Officer Payne was working the overnight DUI patrol when his motorcycle was rear-ended while stopped at a red light. Officer Payne was a dedicated member of the DUI Traffic Unit. Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to participate in this tribute.
